Today was the longly awaited Newbie ride for Izabela (Guillaume) and Annie Kim (me). We drove all the way down to the Kingdom Trails, the most beautiful trails in our region for riders of all skills.

We were a big group when we got there.

Riders:
– Eveline
– Melissa
– Karine
– Marc
– Andreas
– Guillaume
– Izabela
– Annie Kim
– Eric (moi!)

Believe it or not, we splitted in two separate group: Newbie ride and Advanced. We each went our way and decided to meet back after our respective ride.

Climbing the paved road was hard for Annie Kim and Izabela… at the top, they were already hating mountain biking… even though it was more of a road ride! Things changed once they got in the woods

Once we got in the woods, the girls started smilling… We went into HARP, a intermediate singletrack. We then headed down Coronary, Fence Line, Pastore Point, _____ Loop, and back up Coronary for lunch.

We only have ONE injury to report in all the ride…. Look at Guillaume on the next pic… This is a millisecond before he pulls off a wheelie on the slippery bridge before falling on his back… We laughed… All he got were psycho_logic scars!

Finishing the ride with all smiles…

In all, the girls did 16km… not to bad for a first time… Guillaume and I finished with 24km…

Things to remember from today:

– both girls can ride!
– Tody’s tour is completely changed
– Widow Maker and Pines are suited for beginners! (girls loved it!)
– River ___________ on the east side is great!
– Beat Bog is fun when climbed at a fast pace
– The river is really refreshing after a ride!

After the ride, we all met back in the parking lot for a quick snack… We then stopped at Bromont for supper and headed back to town.

The weather was amazing and everyone had a blast… It was trully a perfect day!

PS: Félicitations les filles, vous avez super bien rouler! On est pas mal fier!

Those pictures are a great motivator. You guys ever planning on taking a Friday off and going down? That would motivate me to do all my work for the week and go down on the Friday.

I can’t take any days off during the summer…  but I’m always riding on weekends (although busy with racing and social stuff…)

G

PS for sure I’ll be organizing another beginner ride before the end of the summer…

Sounds good – I’ll definitely get organized to make it to the next Newbie ride at Kingdom Trails. There was no way I could go this time around but I’ll be sure to be there next time.

If you like what you saw, come join us next week-end…

See the calendar for details…
